EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS
JOHN G. ROWLAND
Governor State of Connecticut
November 5, 1997
Dear Mrs. Sarsfield:
Thank you for giving us the opportunity of showcasing Connecticut in your "live" electronic postcards sent on the Internet. Discovering America without leaving the comfort of your desk is definitely a new approach. Your year long journey in seeing 50 states in 50 weeks is quite an ambitious task.
My wife, Patty, and I love to welcome visitors to Connecticut. The magnificent scenery is an example of the natural beauty of the state. You'll have no trouble discovering the many different places and activities within our beautiful state. If you're looking for relaxation, adventure, cultural heritage, or just plain family fun - you will be surprised how much we have. The beauty of it all is that everything is close together.
Connecticut's history is quite extensive. I recommend visitors travel down the newly marked Connecticut Freedom Trail. This journey will acquaint visitors with a milestone in the struggle to end slavery in America. Included in the trail are buildings and sites associated with the Amistad case of 1839-1842.
With four children, we spend quite a bit of time doing family fun activities. Connecticut has activities for every interest from interactive museums to zoos, amusement parks, family farms to boat rides.
Thank you again for the opportunity of sharing the wonderful surprises of Connecticut.
Sincerely,
John G. Rowland
Governor
