A derrick, but no dome (Oh no!) -- Seventy years ago today, Dec. 4, 1928, the first oil well blew in Oklahoma City, and a constant reminder sits on the front lawn of this dome-less Capitol. (The dome never capped the building as the funds were diverted for expansion.)
