National Homestead Monument, Beatrice NE

The first claim to 160 acres of free land provided by the 1862 Homestead Act is preserved at the Homestead National Monument. Trails meander through restored prairie land of ten-foot tall sunflowers, purple thistles, blue sage, pink wild flowers, and dozens of different prairie grasses.
