Height of Land, Franklin County, ME

The Height of Land overlook is the centerpiece of the Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway, an area belonging to Massachusetts until 1796 when James Rangeley purchased it. The scenic road follows the ridge line of Appalachian Mountains, presenting grand views of two Maine lakes: Mooselookmeguntic (Abnaki for "moose feeding place") and Upper Richardson.
